Cody & Kelsie
Cody: I was born and raised in Kaneohe, Hawaii, where I attended a Christian school. It was in the third grade when I realized my need for a savior, and accepted Christ. When I was 16, at youth camp, I surrendered to serving God in ministry. I graduated from a Christian College where I received my Bachelor's degree in Church Ministries. In Hawaii, I was able to serve with a church staff in various capacities for three years. In 2018, I married my beautiful wife Kelsie, and moved to Las Vegas together to help a church in their youth group. It was while we were in Las Vegas that Kelsie and I began praying about teaming up with Jake and Hali to help start the church in San Francisco. After much prayer, we both knew that God was calling us to San Francisco, and we are extremely excited to see God work in this city!
Likes: I enjoy almost every sport, especially basketball. I also love fishing, and am looking forward to be living near the water again!
Kelsie: I was born in Hawaii but my parents were actually living in Japan at the time #militarybratlife. Four years later we moved to the East Bay Area, just a couple miles from SF! I grew up in a really small private Christian school where I believe the size of the school led to my being discipled as deeply as I was by the teachers there. It was there that I decided I wanted to be in ministry for the rest of my life. I went to West Coast Baptist College and graduated with my bachelor's in elementary ed. After school, I moved to Hawaii to teach 4th grade at Ko'olau Baptist Academy where I met Cody, the handsomest man in the world aka my husband. Working there taught me that I am insanely passionate about children and music! After we got married we moved to Las Vegas where we're currently working now, but just recently God has been working in our hearts to move to SF and be a part of Branches. How He led us to this decision is an incredible testimony of how wise and sovereign He is. AND I'M SO EXCITED. Growing up in the Bay Area, it was always a dream of mine to live in the city. And now I will! I like to say that God has led us from tourist trap to tourist trap (Hawaii to Las Vegas to San Francisco). We've lived in places most people vacation! It's pretty awesome haha.
I love making music and hanging out with kids (specifically 4th graders!) but I'm also a nerd. I love superheroes and comic books and cartoons. #DCisbetterthanMarvel
Sam & Madie
SAM: I was born and raised Catholic but never really had a relationship with God. In school I would memorize the creeds and prayers just so I could go to recess with the rest of the class. So once I graduated and went off to college, I lived as if Jesus was never in my life. I would pray before meals and ask God for help when I really wanted or thought I needed something. Therefore, I never really knew God the way I should have. My best friend died in a car accident when I was 21 and that sent me into a deep depression where I questioned everything I thought I knew. Shortly after that, I saw my dad walk away from a car crash that should have decapitated him. That's when I started back at church and "devoted myself to God." I put that in quotations because I never really devoted myself. I was a Christian but a Christian that acted like I never knew Christ, because I truly didn't. I met Jake Woodfin at a boat detailing company and he offered to hangout with me and go through a bible study because he saw that I needed a little scripture to guide my life. How could I pass that up?! He always acted so professional and cool but then wanted to spend time with me!? I took that opportunity without looking back! He led by example in how a follower of Christ should always act. Since then, I've gave my life to Christ in complete surrender and want to do whatever pleases our incredible God!
Likes: my beautiful wife, Madelyn Dagg 😍, we love lifting weights together, hiking and just about any other sport.
Special talents: I can rub my head and pat my belly at the same time!
Madie: I've lived in a small farm town in Ohio my entire life. Growing up, I didn't know much about church or Jesus. My mother was Christian but my father was not. Both of my older siblings went to a Catholic school, however, I was put into a public school. We stopped going to church when I was very young so I have little memories, and never had a good understanding. Occasionally, I would go with my friends to bible studies or church but I felt out of place and had a hard time understanding what was being talked about. I met my husband, Samuel Dagg, when I was 16 in high school, and it wasn't until then that I was introduced to being a Christian. He came from a Christian household so going over there I experienced praying before meals and having open discussions about Jesus. However, I really never opened up or went to church until later in college. In 2015, I began going to church with Sam, and we were asked to volunteer with our local youth group, including helping lead our middle schoolers at a retreat in the new year. I was SO nervous, as I was learning about God myself, how could I possible teach these kids?? Ultimately, that retreat forever changed my life, I gave myself to the Lord.
Since then, I graduated with my Masters of Occupational Therapy from Shawnee State University and recently passed my boards! I really enjoy watching/playing all sports (especially baseball) and being active (hiking, biking, anything outside). And I am a HUGE animal lover. I'm thankful Sam is patient with me while I rant about or play with our cat, Caesar and his family dog, Toby.
